Fix Search Engine Problems
We have paid a company a lot of money to boost our search engine rankings, but we still don't come up in the top 10 results with Google. How can we get better results?
Unfortunately, many SEO companies often offer clients results they cannot deliver.
Each search engine has its own set of ranking rules. What works well for Yahoo or Bing, may not work with Google.
Google offers detailed information to webmasters and website owners, but most people don't bother to read the freely available information or to do the basics that Google requires. Some website owners hope their SEO company can somehow "trick" Google into giving them a higher ranking.
Google will often penalize websites that are trying to manipulate search results, so it may be that your website is made or how special SEO code is used within the site, or other issues may be hurting your Google rankings.
You may want an independent website consultant to take a look at your website to see if there is something preventing your website from rising in search results.
Tips:
- Set up a Google Account, then use the Google Webmaster Tools to validate your account.
- Use the Webmaster Tools to diagnosis and spot obvious problems with your sitemap or other website issues.
- Create a new sitemap and submit the sitemap to Google.
- Review keywords Google has associated with your website.
- Review outgoing and incoming website links.
- Make sure your robots.txt file is allowing your website to be searched by Google.
- Review your website content. Google likes websites with quality website content; consider adding articles and other relevant content to your website.
- If you do not have a "links" page for your website, add a page with quality links to relevant websites.
- Have a web developer familiar with SEO review your website to make sure your website design is not a problem.
