Set Up Autoresponders
We would like to set up a series of automatic emails to go out to website visitors in order to give them a series of quick start tips for using our products. How hard is it to set this up and maintain?
An email newsletter system will do this for you automatically.
With your own email system, such as Interspire's Email Marketer, it is possible to have many different autoresponders and to use the same system for periodic emailings to newsletter subscribers.
Once the system is installed and configured, you can create a series of emails to be sent several days or weeks apart.
Customers can use a simple form to sign up or you can use a form page to add new customers to the system yourself. Once the name is added to the autoresponder list, the different emails will be sent out according to the schedule you determine for the series of emails.
Email newsletter systems, like Email Marketer, lets you use a custom email template design. You can use your branding but have some design variation between each newsletter.
Tips:
- Define the primary goals for your autoresponder series and make sure your emails support your goals.
- Space out your emails so the subscriber will receive one every few weeks so the subscriber won't perceive the emails as spam.
- Make your emails informative.
- Use appropriate graphics and make your email interesting, but not distracting.
- Keep each email focused on one topic.
- While it's a good idea to have a link back to your website or to a related area to the email topic, be careful not to distract readers with too many link.
- Include an opt-out or un-subscribe link on each email so subscribers can easily discontinue the emails if they decide to stop receiving them.
- Use a major headline for the email and break up text with sub-heads and graphics.
- Monitor your autoresponder's stats so you know how many emails are getting opened and what your click through rate is.
