The Best CMS For a Website?
There are hundreds of CMS (Content Management Systems) available today, and most of them offer the same core functionality, in that they make it easy to add pages, update content and help you to organize large number of pages.
Selecting the right CMS for your website project is a lot like finding the right vehicle to drive. While all vehicles will get you from point A to point B, there is a big difference between a Honda Civic and a Ford F150 pickup truck. The same can be said for content management systems.
Two approaches
Some CMS applications such as Interspire's Website Publisher, come with a set of built in capabilities such as article managment and blog capability, and an easy to use Administration system. This may be fine for a website that just needs to efficiently manage basic content.
Other CMS applications such as Joomla, have thousands of "plugins" or mini-applications that can be added to the website to give it additional capabilities. For a website that needs to expand in terms of capabilities in the future, this CMS would be a better choice.
Consider working with a website designer. Someone who has experience with content management systems can help you to look at the "big picture" and weigh the pros and cons of different approaches as it pertains to your particular situation and help you in making the best decision.
